Welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this page. My name is Dr. Karen Blair and I am a social psychologist who studies relationships, prejudice, discrimination, health and Holocaust education. Our survey on the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue has now closed. Once we have completed the analysis of the results, we will share them here on this page, for those interested.

After the Pulse shooting, we launched an online survey to catalogue and preserve the collective responses to the event. Many of the participants found the experience to be a positive one, despite their feelings of grief. While there are many differences between what happened in Orlando and what happened more recently in Pittsburgh, we do see some similarities in the extent that both of these events targeted minority populations who have members that are spread around the globe and who may, as a result, have unique responses to a tragic event impacting a portion of their community, even if the event itself may have taken place far away.
